Privacy Policy

Tappzi is an arithmetic puzzle game for children and adults, published by Chris Hayes.

The short version: Tappzi does not ask for your name, your email, or any other personal information, and it has no accounts to sign into. Everything you do in the game stays on your device.

Information we collect

None.

Tappzi collects no personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, no profile, no email address, no phone number, no contacts, no location, no photos, no camera access and no microphone access. We cannot identify you, and we do not try to.

We do not use advertising. We do not use third-party analytics services. There are no in-app purchases and no payments of any kind.

Information stored on your device

Tappzi saves the following to your device's local storage so the game works between sessions:

  • Which levels you have completed, your best score, your fastest time and your fewest moves for each level
  • Your star totals and other progress counters
  • Your settings — sound, haptics and reduce-motion preferences
  • A short, capped log of in-game events, such as a level starting or finishing, used only for local diagnostics

This information never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, not backed up to us, and not shared with anyone. We have no server that receives it and no way to read it.

It is also not tied to your identity. The game generates a random identifier to keep its own save file organised; it is not linked to you, your device's advertising ID, or any account.

Deleting the app deletes all of it permanently.

Automatic update checks

Tappzi can receive small updates to the game without a full reinstall from the app store. This is the only feature that connects to the internet.

To do this, the app contacts servers operated by Expo when it launches, to ask whether a newer version of the game is available. That request necessarily reveals to Expo:

  • Your device's IP address, as with any internet request
  • The platform (iOS or Android) and operating system version
  • The version of Tappzi you are running

This request contains no personal information, no game progress and no identifiers we have created. Its only purpose is to deliver software updates. Expo acts as our infrastructure provider for this; their privacy policy is at expo.dev/privacy.

If the app is offline, this check simply fails and the game runs normally.

Children's privacy

Tappzi is designed to be suitable for children, including children under 13.

We have built it so that the question of children's data does not arise: we collect no personal information from anyone, of any age. There is nothing to disclose, sell, or share, because nothing is gathered in the first place.

Specifically, Tappzi contains:

  • No advertising of any kind, including no contextual or personalised ads
  • No third-party analytics or tracking software
  • No social features, chat, messaging, user-generated content, or any way for users to communicate with each other or with us through the app
  • No links out to websites or social media from within the game
  • No in-app purchases

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and because the app collects no personal information at all, we do not believe such collection is possible. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will investigate.

Permissions

On Android, Tappzi requests one permission, MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS, which allows the game to play its sound effects correctly. It does not permit recording.

Tappzi does not request microphone access on either platform. The audio library the app uses would ask for it by default; this has been explicitly disabled. Tappzi records nothing.

Tappzi respects your device's silent switch — if your phone is muted, the game stays silent.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade or share any information, because we do not hold any. There are no advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing partners involved in Tappzi.

Your rights

Because we hold no information about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or erase on request.

Everything Tappzi stores is on your own device and under your control. Deleting the app removes it all. Some devices also let you clear an app's data without uninstalling, from the operating system's settings.

Changes to this policy

If Tappzi ever changes in a way that affects this policy — for example if online leaderboards or accounts were added — we will update this page and change the date at the top before the new version is released. Any such change would be described plainly.
